We designed this two-day journey to reach the shrines and forests of Nikko, one of Japan's great cultural sites, and pair them with the Edo-era fun of Kinugawa. We take you to the ornate Tōshō-gū Shrine among towering cedars, then to a theme park where the samurai era comes to life, and an underground stone quarry of vast, cathedral-like chambers. With transport and a hot spring stay arranged, you explore each site at your own pace.
Step into Nikko Tōshō-gū Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site of lavish carvings and gold leaf, dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu and set deep among towering cedars.
Step into the Edo era at EDO WONDERLAND, a theme park of costumed samurai and ninja, live shows, and streets you can walk right into.
Descend into the Oya History Museum, a vast former stone quarry with cathedral-like chambers underground — used as a backdrop for films, music videos, and photo shoots.
