We take you to the thatched-roof village of Miyama with a hands-on cooking class, then to Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three great scenic views, and finally to Ine, a fishing village of funaya boathouses that sit right on the water. With transport and two nights arranged, this is slow travel by design, well off the usual route.
